Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

me - hot and sweaty during the tripBored with the usual border crossing at Bukit Kayu Hitam, Malaysia and Sadao, Thailand and with the crossing at Padang Besar (Padang Basar to Thais) I decided to go for a more adventurous route!

There are a few main border crossing points betwen Malaysia and Thailand. The most popular is Bukit Kayu Hitam – and it is normally very busy and can be stressful. There are also crossing points in Kelantan at Jeli (very small) and near Kota Bahru.

Chelsea VS Malaysia Tickets Still Available

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Chelsea - Frank Lampard

Just got my tickets from Ampang Point, Kuala Lumpur for the Chelsea VS Malaysian No Stars XI. There are still “lots” of tickets left for sale according to the staff at the shop. The shop is the music store on the ground floor of Ampang Point shopping mall – times running out so you better get down there fast!

The tickets show off plenty of “rules” including no food and drink allowed at the match. They probably want to sell their own at high prices.

Pic – Shah Alam Stadium – where the game will be played…

WordPress Bug In “Subscribe To Comments” Plugin

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Subscribe To Comments Plugin

There is a bug in the WordPress plugin “Subscribe To Comments” whereby if you uncheck the option…

Do a CSS “clear” on the subscription checkbox/message (uncheck this if the checkbox/message appears in a strange location in your theme)

The option will not be saved when you submit the form.  This can cause layout / display problems with your design.  You can fix the problem manually for the time being by editing the file /wp-content/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/subscribe-to-comments.php.

CSI Malaysia – Foreign Investment Pulling Out

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

A brilliant story by William Pesek can be read over at Bloomberg.  This post is on the dull side, meaning you have to be into economics / politics otherwise risk being bored to death…

William makes some very well written comments including:

“Malaysia should start by fixing a key weakness: a four- decade-old affirmative-action program favoring the predominant Malay community. It limits investment, stifles competition and keeps the economy from becoming a meritocracy. It’s a third-rail issue and isn’t discussed seriously.”

Thanks to the guys at the Ubuntu Malaysia group, my blog is now syndicated on the new “Planet Ubuntu Malaysia”. As a way of celebrating this I have decided to share with the community some links to Ubuntu wallpapers. These are not normal Ubuntu themed wallpapers but the kind you can only find when you switch off “safe search” in Google!

Warning – some idiots may be offended by these wallpapers. If you are one such fool then kindly close the browser window or navigate to another website.

Preprocess / Customize Nuffnang Adverts For Your Blog

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Nuffnang just like many other web advertising companies uses a few layers of JavaScript to send out advertisements to the web browser.  Also just like these other companies, one can “preprocess” the JavaScript before it is added to your page.

By modifying the JavaScript before it gets displayed in your site / blog you can customize the output to either make it look better or to fix XHTML / JavaScript errors that are often output by the origional code.

Chelsea VS Malaysia Tickets

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Things are heating up a bit here in Malaysia in anticipation of Chelseas arrival.

Chelseas much loved and long serving hero Frank Lampard is expected to play in Malaysia…

According to Goal.com:

“The London club are due leave with new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari for their pre-season tour of China, Malaysia and Russia tomorrow, and presumably Lampard is expected to be among the party.”

Of course the new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is much anticipated too as the Asian tour will be his handful of first games in charge of Chelsea.
