KIM KDE Image Menu – A Service Menu For Konqueror For Manipulating Images
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008
A while back I wrote a blog post about the building of a service menu for KDE / Konqueror that enables the resizing of images using a simple right click & context menu. This is pretty cool – until you discover the hard work some developers have put into KIM (KDE Image Menu).
KIM blows over service menus that work with images out of the water. With KIM you can right click on one or a selection of highlighted images and then perform tons of actions including resizing, compressing, converting, rotating, fliping and more. To make the service menu that extra cool, you can even create image galleries, animations and even more.
KIM is perfect for use by web / graphic designers, photographers and anyone that deals with digital images or artwork.
Chelsea VS Malaysia Photos
Friday, August 22nd, 2008
Some photos from the Chelsea VS Malaysia match at the Shah Alam Stadium, Malaysia… Not many good shots because you need one of those really expensive cameras to get good photos at a football game!
For those who don’t know – the game ended 2-0 to Chelsea. The first half had most of the action including the goals. The second half was kind of a warm up in the Malaysian goal mouth where Chelsea tried out different formations.
Wary of upsetting the Malaysian fan base they decided 2 goals was enough after scoring 7 goals against two sides earlier in China.
The match went smoothly but some fans near me were giving the finger to some Chelsea players – which was one of those uncivilized childish kind of acts that you can expect from a rogue Malaysia supporter. For the offender just kretek was enough – no need for other stimulants for unruly behaviour!

Free FTP Client Tutorial For Windows & Linux
Friday, August 22nd, 2008
There is a fast and free FTP client program available out of the box on both Linux and Windows machines. Surprisingy the program appears to be identical – ie: it’s a free open source program that Microsoft has included on their systems as far back as Windows 2000 (or possibly even earlier but i’ll have to check). The operation of the FTP program on both Linux and Windows is almost the same.
New Search Engine On The Block – Cuil.com
Monday, August 4th, 2008
It’s relativly easy and free to promote a website or service these days. All you have to do – at least in the case of Cuil – is pump out tons of press releases saying that you are bigger and better than Google, but of course far far poorer.
Cuil, pronounced “cool” as they like to say is claiming exactly this – bigger and better search engine results. I’ve been testing their site out for a couple of days using various search terms to see how it compares. As a regular Google freak I can quickly point out the cuil.com is either a folly (a modern day remake imitating a classic) or an accidental fraud with a big ego!

Web Design Tutorial / Workshop: Google.com Makeover For Compliance With Web Standards
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008
I have done many site re-designs with the aim of complying to web standards. However because they are commercial projects the details are not for public consumtion. Rather, for a quick demo and a kind of before and after look at how proper compliance with web standards can improve a websites performance, useability, functionality and accessibility I have chosen to do a quick re-design of Googles homepage instead.

Nuffnang Ad Units Not Working
Friday, August 1st, 2008
I’m having quite a bit of bother with Nuffnang adverts and I’m probably not alone in this. First up if you are wondering why you are not making much money from the ads then one possible reason is that Nuffnang keeps serving them as popups. Yes popups – that anoying thing that websites used to do over 10 years ago before people cared about usability.
