Drupal Latest Members Module Updated
Tuesday, February 8th, 2011
I’ve just closed a few open issues and added bug fixes for Drupal’s latest members module. Now version 6 is stable I’m going to start planning a build for Drupal 7! Latest Members provides a block that shows all of the new members photos (aka user pictures). The block settings can be changed so the admin can choose how many user pictures get displayed.

HTTP request status Fails
Your system or network configuration does not allow Drupal to access web pages, resulting in reduced functionality. This could be due to your webserver configuration or PHP settings, and should be resolved in order to download information about available updates, fetch aggregator feeds, sign in via OpenID, or use other network-dependent services.

New Kind Of Comment Spam Targeting WordPress
Monday, November 2nd, 2009
Today I discovered a new type of attempted comment spam targeting my WordPress blog. The spam bot managed to figure out a section of a legitimate comment and then immitate it and then append a spam link to the end. Technically this is quite easy to do using regex or some simple string functions once a page has been “spidered” by the spam bot.
Here is a quick example of what is going on. The following is an origional comment that has been automatically extracted from my blog and then had spam attached to it prior to reposting…

Web Design Tutorial / Workshop: Google.com Makeover For Compliance With Web Standards
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008
I have done many site re-designs with the aim of complying to web standards. However because they are commercial projects the details are not for public consumtion. Rather, for a quick demo and a kind of before and after look at how proper compliance with web standards can improve a websites performance, useability, functionality and accessibility I have chosen to do a quick re-design of Googles homepage instead.
Nuffnang Ad Units Not Working
Friday, August 1st, 2008
I’m having quite a bit of bother with Nuffnang adverts and I’m probably not alone in this. First up if you are wondering why you are not making much money from the ads then one possible reason is that Nuffnang keeps serving them as popups. Yes popups – that anoying thing that websites used to do over 10 years ago before people cared about usability.
WordPress Bug In “Subscribe To Comments” Plugin
Sunday, July 27th, 2008
There is a bug in the WordPress plugin “Subscribe To Comments” whereby if you uncheck the option…
Do a CSS “clear” on the subscription checkbox/message (uncheck this if the checkbox/message appears in a strange location in your theme)
The option will not be saved when you submit the form. This can cause layout / display problems with your design. You can fix the problem manually for the time being by editing the file /wp-content/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/subscribe-to-comments.php.
