KLinkStatus is a handy web spider program is part of the KDEWebDev suite of applications.  KDELinkStatus can recursively follow and check links (both internal and external) in a web site.

Once the spidering is completed you can then export the results as an HTML report so that broken links can easily be spotted and then fixed.

Google Earth may be the the leader in the field of interactive mapping, especially with Satellite map data but there are some other alternatives.  I’m currently testing out the free open source Marble application.

Marble currently comes in two flavours for Linux, one is a basic version for users who do not have the latest KDE 4 and the other has a few more features.  The main difference between the two verisons is that the KDE 4 version has a few additional settings (see screenshot).
