A quick walk to the local shop suddenly became an adventure when I spotted an Ornate Paradise Tree Snake, sometimes called a Golden Tree Snake, Ornate Flying Snake or Golden Flying Snake.

Some might say they are one of the most beautiful snakes in the world with amazing colours and amazing science. These little snakes can “fly” from the trees – although actually they just compress their bodies and then glide to the ground to escape any dangers.

me - hot and sweaty during the tripBored with the usual border crossing at Bukit Kayu Hitam, Malaysia and Sadao, Thailand and with the crossing at Padang Besar (Padang Basar to Thais) I decided to go for a more adventurous route!

There are a few main border crossing points betwen Malaysia and Thailand. The most popular is Bukit Kayu Hitam – and it is normally very busy and can be stressful. There are also crossing points in Kelantan at Jeli (very small) and near Kota Bahru.

Developing A Thai Text Sanitizer For Web Development

This blog post details the nature of problems when working with Thai text.

Anyone that has ever worked with the Thai language in web development surely encountered problems entering Thai text into webpages – HTML, XHTML and even XML. The main problem is that the Thai language does often not use spaces between characters / words and without spaces, web browsers and other document viewers may have no idea how to wrap text. Furthermore, Thai language is written in an LTR manner – meaning “Left To Right” alike many languages such as English and is not RTL as many non Thai speakers may think. Baby Water Monitor Lizard, Bangkok

Here is a quite detailed video we took in Dusit Zoo, Bangkok a couple of months back. It is a baby Water Monitor lizard (Varanus salvator) that is living free, dashing around the Zoo and park area. We caught this little fella checking out some chewing gum wrappers near a path.
