The Billboard On The LDP For The Missing Dogs

The Billboard On The LDP For The Missing Dogs

A strange but true story appeared on the front page of Malaysia’s Star newspaper today instead of more news worthy headlines (no change there then).  Esther Chik - a lawyer in her 30’s was a victim of a burglary over two months ago and her two Shih Tzu dogs were stolen.  Not a big deal really.

What is a big deal is the huge advertising campaign, including the use of a massive bill board at the side of the LDP highway.  Yes it is sad for Esther losing her two beloved pets but it is even sadder how much money she is wasting on the bill board.  Not to say she won’t find her dogs - just that it’s such a huge waste of money.

I think most people would be thinking she would be better off donating money to a charity than blasting it out on two lost dogs which most likely will never be found and one of which is surely in old age anyway.

There are plenty of missing children campaigns here in Malaysia that could probably do with using that gigantic bill board space!  Somehow I think those causes are more important than Esthers two little dogs.

Another worry is that the thieves panic with all the media attention and if the dogs are still with them they might kill them and hide the bodies to avoid getting caught! If the dogs were sold then I doubt the new owners would want to give up their new pets because they will be attached to them by now.
