Photos - Reticulated Python Rescue In Sentul, Malaysia

It’s been a while since I’ve found and rescued a Snake! Yes you read that right - I’m not scared of Snakes - I love Snakes! The rescue before this was of a Paradise Tree Snake in Phuket, Thailand. Read about that Snake here - http://hygen.net/blog/?p=273
Allow me to introduce a baby Reticulated Python…
This little fella is a Reticulated Python, scientific name - Python reticulatus. He or she is just a baby at under a meter long and almost became road kill. Reticulated Pythons are the worlds longest snakes and second largest by weight to Green Anacondas. Sadly before I rescued this one I’ve seen some road kills in the same are a few months back. I’ve also seen what appeared to be a Dog-Toothed Cat snake in the same area near my house so these kinds of snakes could be common in the area. So far they have all been babies so there must be large female Pythons nesting somewhere near by. Constant construction projects and disturbance by “Alam Flora” personnel cutting the tall grass is destroying the Snakes habitat and forcing them out into the streets. Poor little things…
